So, culottes. They never fail to remind me of a rather nasty brown pair that constituted part of my Brownies uniform back in the day, but apparently they are 'back' (well, that's what Vogue tells me anyway). I can see the appeal of them - all the swishiness of a skirt, with the practicality of trousers. But despite what Vogue and Acne (who have featured quite a few pairs on the catwalk over the last few seasons) think, I just can't quite get my head round them - have you ever seen anyone looking cool in culottes? I don't think I have - and if the gorgeous model in this pic can't pull them off with her lengthy pins and waif-like figure, then I don't think it bodes well for me... If however, you do fancy taking a crack at this look, this pair by Acne will set you back £210, although Zara have a similar-ish pair for £29.99.
What do you think - awesome or awful?

I think they can look very chique when you style them right. I really like the ones on this photo :) love her hair too!

I think a super-awesome person can look super-cool in them, but the same person would likely also look cooler in something else with more inherent cool. But I find the person who is always the coolest starts to be boring after a while - it's more interesting to wear things that are different, than always be pursuing the awesome. That said, I don't own any and don't plan on buying anytime soon!
ReplyDeleteBy the way I can't get comments on your blog to work on my iPad - the "Comment as" window for entering details overlaps with the comment and I can't get the cursor into it. So I won't be commenting while travelling for the next couple of weeks!
I really don't know what to say:) The outfit makes me say WOOOW! You know what? I'd wear this outfit in a heart bit and jump in joy the whole day. I just suspect that with boots less impressive and amazing than these I would have to do much more effort in trying these pants look good...
